I see design as a way to create emotional presence. My goal is not simply to solve problems, but to shape experiences that people can surrender to, whether quiet or bold, playful or serious. I design for moments of reflection, imagination, and connection. Experiences that invite people to reset, reconnect with themselves, and feel something lasting.
At the heart of my identity is storytelling. I don’t just tell stories; I design stories people can live. That approach grew through projects like Crescendo (Figure 2), where I shaped rhythm through space, and CBL3 (Figure 3), where I led within physical limits while creating meaningful engagement. Conversations with P&P Projects affirmed how my conceptual, emotional style fits real-world contexts.
Living with chronic pain and limited strength, I’ve built a process around sustainability. Tools like Blender (Figure 4), Illustrator (Figure 5), and digital fabrication help me work precisely. I also developed the Pyramid Method (Figure 6 & 7), a brainstorm technique that connects emotional intent to form. These methods let me design deeply without burning out.
In teams, I’m often the dreamer, pushing for emotional clarity. My designs vary, but always aim to make people feel safe, seen, or transformed.
My identity is shaped through my constraints. It’s rooted in empathy, nuance, and a belief that design offers clarity in an overstimulating world. My work with #WijDoenHetAnders (Figure 8 & 9) reflects this: using film and gamification to invite reflection and conversation in accessible ways.
